Scheduled Flights – Fort Chipewyan

Commonly referred to as Fort Chip, it is the farthest northern community in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB).

There is no permanent road to Fort Chip so during the summer months you can only get there by air or water.

It is Approximately 223 km from Fort McMurray, making the flight 45-60 minutes each way.

Fares, Check-ins and Bookings

What is a change fee?

Every time you change a time, date, name or routing you will be charged a $25 change fee.

What is the cancellation policy?

Within 24 hours of departure time:

No refunds. Your ticket will be changed to  an ‘Open Ticket’ status that can be used to fly at a later date. You will also subject to a $25 change fee.

Within 4 hours of departure time

Ticket fares are non-refundable.

**This means if you’re on the morning flight you have to make changes to your ticket before closing the night prior.

What time do I have to be there before my flight?

Check in time leaving Fort McMurray is one (1) hour before your flight.

Check in time leaving Fort Chipewyan is one (1) hour before your flight.

What if I miss my flight or show up after the cut off time?

To maintain on-time operations and to respect the schedules of other passengers, flights cannot be held for guests who are running late. If a passenger has not checked in at least 30 minutes prior to departure time they forfeit their seat and will be charged a 100% No Show Fee.

Seating

Do I have to pay for an additional seat for my infant?

If the infant is under the age of two (2) they can sit on your lap at no extra charge. You will be asked to provide a birth certificate upon check in to prove you child’s age.

Any child above the age of 2 requires their own seat.

How many seats are in the plane?

Caravan: nine (9)

B1900: sixteen (16)

How does seating work in the plane?

seating is a first come first serve basis.

If you require assistance boarding the plane, please let one of the Customer Service Agents know upon booking & checking in and they can arrange pre-boarding for you.

Can I sit in the co-pilot seat?

Depending on the operational factors, the co-pilot seat may be available for passengers. If you are interested in sitting in the co-pilot seat you may ask the pilot if it is available when you are boarding your flight.

Luggage & Cargo

Can I travel with my dog/cat?

Yes of course! We do require them to travel in a kennel. The airfare for our fury friends is charged by the pound at our standard cargo weight rates.

If you are not traveling with them they can still travel without you, but they will need to go on one of our cargo planes.

Does my purse or carry on bag count towards my luggage allowance?

Yes, to ensure the safety of the aircraft, we must weigh all of your carry-on items and checked luggage

If I’m over my guaranteed baggage allowance and I pay the excess luggage fees does that gauruntee that my luggage will make it on the same flight?

No. Due to the size of the aircraft, we cannot guarantee that your excess luggage will travel with you.

Anything beyond your 50Ib allowance will be on a space available basis.
