Recreational Pilot Permit
This is the least expensive flying option available, however it does have limitations. Recreational pilots are restricted to day time flying only with only 1 passenger, and to aircraft with a maximum seating capacity of 4 passengers.
A recreational pilot can transfer their time and become a private pilot. This course may be ideal for the person who would like flying as a hobby or just to have a good time. students can get this permit at the age of 16 and get their student pilot permit at 14! so if you're a young eagle maybe this is for you. Students will attend the same groundschool as the private licence.
The requirements for this permit are:
- Students must be at least 16 yrs of age.
- Students must have declaration of physical fitness signed by physician.
- This course exceeds the minimum 40 hrs of groundschool required by Transport Canada .
- Students must pass a written examination on Air Law, Navigation, Meteorology and General Knowledge with at least 60 percent in each section. and a flight test.
- The flight training experience needed is a total of 25 hrs flight time with at least 15 hrs dual instruction and 5 hrs solo and 2 hrs of cross country.
